Account Deletion Policy


1. Overview

At TapSwap, we respect your right to manage your personal data, including the ability to delete your account. This policy outlines how you can request account deletion and what happens to your data and funds when you do so.


2.How to delete your account

You can delete your TapSwap account through the following methods:


In App

  1. Log in to your TapSwap account.
  2. Click on Account and scroll down to the Log Out button.
  3. Click on Delete Account and follow the steps to confirm the deletion.


Web Platform

  1. Log in to your account at www.tapswap.io.
  2. Go to your Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
  3. Follow the steps to confirm the deletion.


Support Request (If You Cannot Access Your Account)

  • Contact our support team at support@tapswap.io with the subject "Account Deletion Request" and include your registered email address.
  • We may require identity verification before processing the request.


3. What happens after you delete your account?


Trading & access:

  • Once your account is deleted, you will no longer be able to trade, deposit, or withdraw funds.
  • Any active transactions may be canceled or settled before deletion.

Funds & withdrawals:

  • If you have remaining funds, you must withdraw them before deleting your account.
  • Any unclaimed funds may be held for a mandatory retention period (as required by law).


Personal data retention:

  • Certain KYC/AML-related data may be retained for regulatory compliance (e.g., anti- money laundering laws).
  • Your transaction history may be stored for tax and audit purposes, even after deletion.


4. Cooling off period (if applicable)


  • Some accounts may be placed under a 7-day cooling-off period before full deletion, especially if they have recent transactions.
  • You may cancel your deletion request by logging in within this period.


5. Legal disclaimers


Regulatory compliance:

  • TapSwap is required to retain certain records under applicable laws, including but not limited to anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) regulations.
  • Your KYC verification details, transaction records, and compliance-related data may be stored for up to 5 years (or as required by law).


Irreversibility:

  • Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed once processed. You will need to create a new account if you wish to use TapSwap in the future.


Third-party services:

  • Deleting your TapSwap account does not automatically delete associated accounts with third-party services (e.g., on-ramp providers, blockchain wallets). You must contact those providers separately for data deletion requests.


Liability waiver:

  • TapSwap is not liable for any loss of funds, account data, or access resulting from voluntary account deletion by the user. It is your responsibility to withdraw funds before proceeding with deletion.
